LAS VEGAS — In observing National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the Office of the Nevada Attorney General conducted two trainings for community members with over 70 total attendees who learned about the Nevada Victim Information Notification Service (VINE).

VINE is a free automated service allows crime victims to anonymously obtain information about the custody status of offenders in county jails via phone or email.

Attendees, who participated in trainings on Tuesday at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Headquarters and Thursday at Henderson Police Department learned how to register for VINE notifications and the importance of doing so.

“This victim centric solution can help protect and empower victims and their families,” said Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto.  “We will continue to promote awareness of victims’ rights and needs even after National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is over.”

“Nevada VINE is a powerful tool helping victims and other concerned citizens,” said Henderson Interim Police Chief James White.  “I look forward to the system’s eventual debut in Henderson.”

In addition to calling the aforementioned number, people can register for the VINE at

Additional trainings, closed to the public, specific to law enforcement officials demonstrated the internal workings of the VINE service.

The Nevada VINE service and the VINE trainings were sponsored by the Nevada Office of the Attorney General and local law enforcement agencies.
