Cabela’s to host personal defense seminars

RENO – Cabela’s outdoor outfitter store is offering a series of free, 90-minute seminars on concealed carry weapons and personal protection in the home, refuse to be a victim, intro to pistols and intro to shotguns as part of Personal Defense and Home Protection Weekend this week. The courses will be taught by National Rife Association-trained instructors.

As an added bonus, the first 100 customers 18 and older on Saturday will receive a free Second Amendment T-shirt and the first 100 customers 18 and older on Sunday will receive a free pepper spray. There will also be a sweepstakes for a $15,000 emergency preparedness package that includes a home generator, a Woodsman gun safe, large emergency food kit, water filtration system and a Cabela’s gift card.

Two local firearms instructors will conduct the classes: Monty Turner, an NRA-certified training counselor and owner of Personal Defense; and Bradd Davidson, an NRA-certified range safety officer and owner of Concealed Defense Reno. The classes will be held in the conference rooms located just past the Big Horn Grill and include Pistols Made Simple at 11 a.m. by Turner; Intro to CCW and Personal Protection in the Home at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. by Davidson; Intro to Shotguns at 2 p.m. by Turner; and Refuse to be a Victim at 3:30 p.m. by Turner. Hunting outfitters will also do a short Safe Storage Options seminar both days at 4 p.m.
