SPARKS — The iPad version of the city of Sparks mobile app is now available for free download in the iTunes App Store, according to a city press release sent Tuesday.

The “Sparks, NV” mobile app available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices provides information on restaurants, shopping and nightlife as well as the latest city news, weather and the ability to check in on social networking sites. Download the city’s mobile app by visiting www.cityofsparks.us/visiting/mobile-app or by searching for “Sparks, NV” in both the iTunes App Store and in the Android Market.

The Sparks mobile app features include:

• Visiting information – Restaurants and dining, shopping, family-friendly venues, events, nightlife/bars, hotels/casinos

• Information on upcoming special events

• “Around Me” – Augmented reality using geo-tracking points of interest based on your current location and using the camera feature of your device

• Sparks softball standings and tournament information

• Area maps and weather

• Sparks news feed

• Abilities for citizens to request city services or connect to city government

• Facebook check-in and status posts, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube

The iPhone version of the mobile app has received more than 1,000 downloads and the Android version approximately 250.
