RENO — A presentation was held Tuesday marking a donation from Carl F. and Virginia Mansfield to the Nevada Humane Society valued at more than $5 million
Thanks to the kindness of the Mansfields, the homeless cats at Nevada Humane Society are the recipients of a generous endowment through he Community Foundation of Western Nevada. A plague in the Mansfields’ honor was unveiled on Tuesday.
With the ongoing economic crisis the community is facing, it is becoming even more challenging for Nevada Humane Society to meet the needs of homeless pets. The gift of Carl F. and Virginia Mansfield Endowment for Cats has a total value of more than $5 million and will provide nearly $200,000 in funding this year for the care of the cats in the shelter.
Nevada Sate Senator Ben Kieckhefer, Nevada Highway Parol Trooper Chuck Allen, NHS Executive Director Bonney Brown and Chris Askin from Community Foundation of Western Nevada, and Nevada Humane Society staff and board members were on hand for the presentation.
Nevada Humane Society is a non-profit, charitable, no-kill shelter creating a no-kill community and working to find homes and provide care for homeless animals.
