RENO — Experts have identified human remains discovered last June in the area of Mayberry Drive and Plateau Road.

A laboratory in Texas used DNA analysis on the bones and have determined them to be the remains of David Williams, a 62-year-old Reno resident who went missing almost five years ago.

Williams was reported to RPD as a missing person in August 2007. His vehicle was located in 2007 at a park near where the remains were found. At that time an extensive search was conducted in the area but his remains were not located. In 2011, the bones were found in very dense brush that had to be cut away by a Reno public works crew to find a majority of the remains and other items. RPD detectives do not believe foul play is involved.

Anyone who has information relating to this incident is asked to contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2188, or Secret Witness at 322-4900, report online at or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword “SW.”
