RENO — The fifth annual Safe & Healthy Homes 5K River Run and Walk takes place at 9 a.m. Saturday at Idlewild Park. The annual event benefits the Committee to Aid Abused Women (CAAW) with $10 from each race entry going directly to the organization with a mission to end family violence. The Washoe County Domestic Violence Task Force holds the annual event as one of its annual fundraisers.

The entry fee is $30 through April 20 and then increases to $35 for race day. Past participants and members of the Silver State Striders receive a $2 discount until April 20. Following the race there will be free food for the participants and live entertainment. Register online at and search Safe & Healthy Homes 5K.

Packet pickup is April 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Eclipse Pizza, located at the corner of Mayberry Drive and McCarran Boulevard. Pizza discounts will be offered to race participants.
