SPARKS — Police have arrested a man from Reno for allegedly shooting another man in the arm outside a Mexican restaurant.

Rogelio Rea, 25, was charged with battery with a deadly weapon after a witness said he shot another man after an argument at Castillo’s restaurant at 1131 Rock Blvd. After receiving a call just before 11 p.m. officers made contact with the victim of a gunshot wound who said he had a verbal argument with another patron of the restaurant. During the argument, the suspect, later identified as Rea, pulled a handgun out of his truck and shot the victim in the upper arm. The victim was taken to the hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.

Rea, who had left the scene prior to police arrival, was later located and positively identified as the shooter by witnesses.

The Sparks Police Department is asking anyone with any information on this incident to contact detectives at 353-2225 or call Secret Witness at 322-4900.
