RENO — An elderly man in a wheelchair sustained life-threatening injuries Sunday when he

was hit by a car at the intersection of Fifth and Center streets.

A woman has been arrested in the incident. Sharlene Depolo, 41, has been charged with felony hit and run. Her 2011 silver Volkswagen Jetta has been recovered by police as evidence.

At 9:58 p.m., officers from the Reno Police Department were called to the intersection where they found an elderly, wheelchair-confined pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle, which fled the scene north on Center Street.

The victim was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center and treated for injuries that were reported Monday to be life threatening.

Officers were able to piece together information that led them to Depolo.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor based on the initial investigation, police said.

Anyone having information relating to this crime or the suspect is asked to contact the Reno Police Department at 334-2115, or Secret Witness at 322-4900, report online at www.secretwitness.com or text the tip to 847411 (TIP 411) keyword “SW.”
