SPARKS — In 20 years of making music, Rusted Root has become well known for its unique fusion of acoustic, rock, world and other styles of music. The members’ strong percussion section draws from African, Latin American, Native American and Indian influences. Dance along as they jam at John Ascuaga’s Nugget at 9 p.m. Friday in the Celebrity Showroom.

Rusted Root was formed in Pittsburgh by singer/guitarist Michael Glabicki in the early 1990s and rose to worldwide fame with the platinum-selling album “When I Woke,” which featured the mega-hit song “Send Me on My Way.” The band has sold more than three million albums worldwide and has emerged as one of the industry’s top touring bands, having shared the stage with the likes of Toad the Wet Sprocket, Santana, the Grateful Dead, the Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band and Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

Rusted Root’s music has been featured in numerous compilation albums and several soundtracks, including “Matilda,” “Ice Age,” “Twister,” “Homicide” and “Party of Five.” “Send Me on My Way” was also chosen by NASA engineers as wake-up music for the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity.
