RENO — Today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Reno Police Department Traffic Division will conduct a pedestrian education operation at Brown Elementary School located at 13815 Spelling Court in Reno.

The goal of this operation will be to educate kindergartners on the safest way to cross the street. During this education process, these kindergartners will be shown how to cross the street safely by officers from the Reno Police Department Traffic Division. They will be provided a back pack including an educational coloring book about pedestrian safety. This operation is funded through a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety who also provided all the materials that will be given to the students.

These Kindergartners will also have the opportunity to meet members from the Reno Police Department SWAT team, the Reno Police Department K9 Unit, and the Reno Police Department Traffic Division. During this time, the kindergartners will be able to see equipment used from each unit.
