RENO (AP) — The trial has been delayed for one remaining suspect in the sidewalk shooting death of a Reno man who tried to prevent his friend’s purse from being stolen.

A new trial date will be scheduled Friday for 21-year-old Jacob Sanchez, reports the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Sanchez is charged with fatally shooting 25-year-old Steven Gale on Mother’s Day in May 2011.

His brother, 19-year-old Luis Sanchez, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the killing, as did his girlfriend, Aurora Rodriguez-Perez. The brothers had been scheduled to stand trial together before the younger sibling pleaded guilty.

Jose Cruz, a 13-year-old gang member, has already been sentenced to a life term for his role in the crime spree that authorities say started with holdups in Carson City and ended in gunfire in Reno.
