SPARKS — Police arrested a man early Sunday for allegedly beating up his ex-girlfriend after dragging her away from a bar.

Jesus Gonzales-Barreto, 24, has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, false imprisonment, domestic battery and domestic strangulation. Sparks officers say they received a call at 3:21 a.m. Sunday to meet with Reno police who were talking with Gonzales-Barreto and his ex-girlfriend at 4500 Mira Loma. The ex-girlfriend reported that she was at Aguita’s bar at 1825 Prater Way with a friend when Gonzales-Barreto came up to her and forced her from the bar and into his vehicle. Once inside, he battered her, she said, and drove her a short distance before she was able to momentarily escape. Gonzales-Barreto then allegedly forced her back into his vehicle and traveled to 4500 Mira Loma where he beat her up again before she finally escaped and called for help.

The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and Gonzales-Barreto was arrested.
