SPARKS — A robber reportedly held a clerk at gunpoint at the Sparks Food and Discount Liquor store at 2004 Victorian Avenue at about 9 p.m. Wednesday, taking food from the store before fleeing in a vehicle.

A Sparks police officer was flagged down by a clerk from the store who advised him that the store had just been robbed. The clerk pointed the officer in a northbound direction. About a block away, the suspect was located getting into the passenger seat of a car that then tried to leave the area.

The vehicle was stopped and the occupants were held at gun point.

The passenger, later identified as Robert Davis, was reportedly uncooperative with police and refused to obey officer commands. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officer, according to the report.

Video surveillance from the store, along with evidence found inside the vehicle, identified Davies as the possible robbery suspect. An undisclosed amount of money was also found to be in Davies’ possession and was also confiscated.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or observed the suspect fleeing the scene is asked to contact the Sparks Police Department Detective Division at 353-2225 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
