RENO — On Saturday, the Reno Police Department Traffic Division issued 40 citations and 11 warnings during a pedestrian enforcement operation targeting drivers who fail to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The operation was conducted at Wells Avenue and Vesta Street (in preparation for St Patrick’s Day celebration), Sutro Street and Carville Drive and West Third and North Sierra Street.

The majority of those citations were for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Citations were also issued to drivers who were using their cell phone while driving.
