Alliance for Victim’s Rights seeks award nominees

RENO — The Alliance for Victim’s Rights (AVR) will honor outstanding individuals and businesses who have contributed to the betterment of victims of crime in Northern Nevada through the 2012 “Bringing Respect and Honor to Victims” awards.

AVR is looking for nominations in the following categories:

Outstanding Community Member (Helping Hands Award)

Outstanding Advocate (Essence of Advocacy Award)

Outstanding Volunteer Advocate (Kind Heart Award)

Outstanding Business (Imagine. Believe. Achieve. Award)

Outstanding Non-Profit Agency (Imagine. Believe. Achieve. Award)

Outstanding Member of Criminal Justice System (Zeal Award)

Outstanding Unit in Criminal Justice System (Justice Award)

Pioneer in Victim Services

Outstanding Government Agency – Non-Criminal Justice

The nominee must have shown commendable service(s) that helped a victim of crime anytime in 2011-2012, up to present day. Previous winners are not eligible for nomination.

The following items must be returned for consideration:

Completed nomination form (enclosed or attached)

In 200 words or fewer, a letter summarizing the nominee’s accomplishments and reasons for nominating this individual, program, or organization. The summary should address what makes the nominee extraordinary and how do the contributions of this nominee qualify as going above and

beyond.

Nominations must be submitted to the AVR Executive Committee via email at allianceforvictimsrights@gmail.com or by fax at 355-2221.

Nomination applications and all supporting materials must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 23. An independent, multi-disciplinary committee will select the winners in early April.

Awards will be presented at the Victim’s of Crimes Rights Week Candlelight Vigil on April 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mills B. Lane Justice Center, One S. Sierra St. in Reno
