SPARKS — The Wound Care Center at Northern Nevada Medical Center will host a free cooking demonstration for diabetics from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at Sparks Medical Building, 2385 E. Prater Way, Sparks, Suite 203.

Wound Care Center Medical Director Todd Inman, MD and Tanya Crisp, director of Wound Care, will present the demonstration. The class is interactive and participants will get to taste healthy dishes that are demonstrated for them.

“More than 23 million people in the U.S. have diabetes and a healthy, well-balanced diet is important to management of diabetes,” Dr. Inman said. “However, diabetics don’t have to necessarily give up all their favorite foods. We will demonstrate smart food choices, such as whole grains, fruits and vegetables, and talk about other food choices that should be consumed in moderation.”

Participants will also receive healthy recipes for diabetics. To RSVP call 356-6662.
