SPARKS — Enjoy the benefits of yoga this winter with sessions taught by instructors from Yoga Loka studio. Sessions will be held at the Larry D. Johnson Community Center at 1200 12th St., across from the Sparks Library.
Yoga Basics: The introductory six-week course covers the principles, philosophy, movements, breathing and relaxation techniques of yoga. Tuesdays, Feb. 21 to March 27 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.
Yoga Flow: Appropriate for all levels, this new six-week class includes a flowing sequence of postures along with detailed instruction. Through a combination of pranayama (breathe work), meditation and asana (physical postures), participants will connect with the inherent wisdom present within their own body. Thursdays, Feb. 23 to March 29 from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m.
A Peace of Yoga Mind/Body/Breath Awareness for Teens: This new four-week course for teens covers a series of flowing yoga poses to enhance strength and flexibility, balance and relaxation. Teens will learn self-reflection and interact with their peers in a supportive environment. Tuesdays, April 3 through 24 from 4 to 5:15 p.m.
A yoga mat, block and strap are required for all classes. The cost per session for adults is $81 for Sparks residents and $97 for all others. The cost for the teen class is $40 for Sparks residents and $48 for all others.
