RENO — Sheriff’s detectives are still looking for one man in a homicide investigation connected to the death of Jared Hyde, 20, of Reno, as they continue to uncover what happened the night Hyde was beaten near a motocross track off the end of Lemmon Drive.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday they identified Andrue “AJ” Jefferson and Robert “Bobby” Schnueringer, both 20, as suspects in the case. Late Wednesday evening, detectives said they had spoken to Jefferson but no arrests were made.

The sheriff’s office was still asking the public for assistance in locating Schnueringer. He is known to travel within the Reno-Sparks region, said sheriff’s office spokesman Deputy Armando Avina.

“They tend to float from area to area,” Avina said.

Detectives had received numerous tips by Wednesday afternoon, Avina said. Every tip received through the sheriff’s office and through Secret Witness is investigated.

Hyde was one of about 40 or 50 people at the scene Saturday night, Avina said. The dirt motocross area is not typically known as a gathering place for parties, he said.

“It’s not a problem area out there,” Avina said.

At some time during the night, a fight broke out and Hyde was attacked.

Hyde sustained serious injuries and was taken by friends to Renown Regional Medical Center where he died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

“We’re still seeking why the altercation occurred,” Avina said.

Anyone with information about the case, including the whereabouts of Schnueringer, should call the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office detectives division at 832-9276 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
