Speaker series for equestrians, hunters and fishermen

RENO — This March, the Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) and Cabela’s of Reno are teaming up to deliver a Spring Speaker Series for all outdoorsmen and women in and around the northern Sierra.

With a particular emphasis on backcountry equestrians, topics range from equestrian first aid and nutrition to safe evacuation strategies for yourself and your stock in the case of a wildfire. The series will take place each Wednesday in March from 6 to 8 p.m. to get ready for a safe and fun summer on the trail.

March 7: “Leave No Trace for Northern Sierra Outdoorsmen and Women” with Dan Horn, Donna Meier and Thor Bodtker

March 14: “Fire on the Mountain” with Fire Captain David England

March 21: “Equestrian First Aid and Nutrition Seminar” with Dr. Balaam and Dr. Messerlian of Large Animal Veterinary Services

March 28: “Equines on the Tahoe Rim Trail: Speaker Panel” with a TRTA panel
