CARSON CITY — Even though the Nevada Legislature is not in session this year, the Senate Floor will swing into action this week as the leadership programs of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and The Chamber of Reno/Sparks/Northern Nevada help test “uLegislate,” a new educational program and legislative simulation.

The Nevada Senate is offering “uLegislate” free of charge to community groups, schoolchildren, chambers of commerce, church groups and civic organizations from March 5 to July 27 this year. This week’s session will occur at 11 a.m. today. The public is invited.

Participants will have the opportunity to debate and vote on four pieces of model legislation as part of the simulation. They will vote using the same technology used by Nevada’s senators, and will see their own names appear on the Senate’s vote tabulation system. The simulation is designed to run one hour.

Reservations are now being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, contact the Nevada Senate at 684-1400, via Twitter @NVSecSenate, or email ulegislate@leg.state.nv.us.
