RENO — The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) of the Nevada Division of Industrial Relations has recognized Basalite, a concrete and masonry company in Reno, for its successful completion of the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP). This is the fourth time Basalite has received its SHARP certification.
The no-cost SHARP program is designed to assist employers with the development and implementation of effective safety and health programs. SHARP helps businesses improve their return on investment, be in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and create the added value of reducing accident costs.
Basalite has been in business since 1971 and has 67 employees between its three locations in northern Nevada, including a manufacturing facility in Carson City, aggregate quarry in Dayton and distribution yard in Reno. Basalite creates commercial and residential concrete products, including materials to build offices, schools and warehouses. The company also supplies and installs pavers and wall blocks for home improvement projects.
