RENO — Reno Tahoe Comedy presents Super Bowl Weekend Comedy Kickoff with Tom McClain.

McClain is a larger-than-life, hard-hitting funnyman out of Los Angeles. He’s most often recognized for his many appearances on “The Dr. Phil Show,” Fox Sports and the Emmy Award-winning talk show “The Doctors.” Often described as “Everyone’s Favorite Drinking Buddy,” McClain has an uncanny ability to draw out the fun-loving, immature adult in all of us. His stand-up has also been featured on se “Man-up Stand-up” and “West Coast Comedy All-Stars.” A known sports enthusiast, McClain has found many ways to tie his work into his passion. He has emceed a number of NFL celebrity golf tournaments and appeared on many sports TV and radio talk shows showing 100 percent favoritism. His comedy career has become more of a success as he has learned to accept that he will not likely be the next quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.

Hosting this weekend’s shows is comedian Hark Dulai. Dulai grew up a hard-working peach farmer … or actually, the lazy son of a hard-working peach farmer. Dulai has always been a sports fanatic, he watches all sports … because he was never good enough to play. Spend 10 minutes with him and you’ll feel like he’s a neighbor you’ve known your entire life. Spend another 20 minutes with him and you will wish your neighbor would move.

Guest comedian for all three shows is Layla Baird. Baird’s comedy is a mix of self-deprecating truths and life’s daily irony. Raw and unapologetic, Baird finds humor in some of life’s most disappointing moments. Also making a guest appearance at 9:30 p.m. Saturday is Jenny PezDeSpencer.

Shows are held at the Pioneer Center Underground, 100 S. Virginia St. in Reno. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday with an R-rated show at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets to any of the shows cost $12 in advance and $16 the day of the show. Buy tickets online at or at the Pioneer Center for the Arts box office from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and at the Pioneer Underground on show nights between 7 and 11 p.m. Fees may apply. Comedians subject to change. No refunds. For a complete Reno Tahoe Comedy schedule, go to
