RENO (AP) — An Occupy Reno protester has been arrested after police said he refused to leave a protest camp.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports 39-year-old Edward Gill stayed behind in his tent after the three-month permit for Occupy Reno to use Moana Park as a campsite expired Wednesday.

Police went to the park Thursday night to remind Gill and several others that the permit had expired.

Police Lt. Robert Larson says officers returned a couple of hours later to find that Gill remained but the others had left.

Larson says Gill refused an offer to stay at a local homeless shelter and refused to sign a citation. He was then arrested on suspicion of being in the park after hours.

Gill remained in the Washoe County jail on Friday morning.
