LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas city councilman and defense attorney Steve Wolfson is Clark County’s new district attorney.

County commissioners voted 6-1 on Tuesday to have the 57-year-old Wolfson serve the three remaining years of retired District Attorney David Roger’s term. Commissioner Lawrence Weekly voted no.

Wolfson is a former county and federal prosecutor who’s been in private practice in Las Vegas since 1987.

He’s married to Jackie Glass, the former Clark County District Court judge who sentenced O.J. Simpson to prison and has since replaced Nancy Grace on the syndicated television show “Swift Justice.”

Roger retired Jan. 3 after nine years as DA.

Wolfson has said he will run for election.

The other finalists were county indigent defense office chief Drew Christensen and former Clark County Democratic Party chairman John Hunt.
