RENO — A dash of Kurt Cobain, a pinch of David Beckham and a whole lot of amazing musician. That’s one way to describe virtuoso violinist David Garrett, performing at 8 p.m. Friday at the Grand Sierra Resort.

Creating “rock symphonies” with a crossover blend of classical, pop, rock and R&B has made Garrett one of those artists that’s hard to define and even harder to resist. Whether he’s playing Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal” or tunes from Metallica and Nirvana with a full orchestra, or Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony backed by a rock band, Garrett fills each performance with an electrifying spirit that audiences can’t help but absorb.
