Sparks Police on Tuesday arrested a man on suspicion of being the shooter in an incident that took place early Saturday morning in the parking lot of the Jack in the Box restaurant at 228 Oddie Blvd.
On Monday, Sparks Police located the light blue Toyota 4Runner that was seen in video taken from the restaurant’s surveillance camera, and on Tuesday they arrested Jadon Hatcher, 23, a Reno resident, on charges of battery with a deadly weapon. In Saturday’s shooting, Juan Padilla, 20, of Reno, was shot after an altercation with the three passengers of the Toyota. The incident began in the restaurant’s drive-thru and carried over into other parts of the parking lot. An occupant of the Toyota took out a gun and began shooting at Padilla, who was hit once. Friends of Padilla took him to Renown Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
After locating the Toyota, Sparks Police located Hatcher and after an interview took him into custody. He is being held on $7,500 bail in the Washoe County Jail. Sparks Police have also interviewed the two passengers who were in the car with Hatcher at the time of the shooting but no other arrests have been made, according to Sparks Police Commander Steve Asher.
