RENO — This year’s Auto Show, set for Jan. 27 through 29 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, will spotlight fuel-efficient, electric and hybrid vehicles.

“For more than 30 years, the Auto Show has offered northern Nevada shoppers the best deals available with the convenience of shopping all 16 auto dealers under one roof,” said event producer Jim Minor. “By putting all the automotive groups into one arena it not only results in a more competitive market price-wise for the consumer, it also allows the buyer to make a more informed choice in less time. And with all of the new technological advances being made with electric and hybrid vehicles, that information is more important than ever.”

Included in Auto Show 2012’s offerings are eight recipients of PopularMechanic.com’s “Top 10 Cars for 2012: Popular Mechanics’ Auto Excellence Awards.” Vehicles available will range from the Dodge Ram, Jeep Wrangler and Chevy Silverado to the new Kia Optima hybrid, Lexus HS 250h and Volkwagen Passat TDI.

Automotive groups participating in Auto Show 2012 include Acura of Reno; Bill Pearce Honda; Bill Pearce Motors; Champion Chevrolet; Dolan Automotive Group, including Reno Toyota-Scion, Lexus of Reno and Reno Mazda-Kia; Jones West Ford; Lithia Hyundai; Lithia Jeep; Lithia Subaru; Lithia Volkswagen; Nissan of Reno; Reno Buick GMC Cadillac; Reno Dodge; and Scott Motors.

The event is free and is open to the public from noon to 8 p.m. Jan 27, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 28 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan 29. On-site parking at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center costs $7.
