The WCACB is comprised of seven members, one from each commission district, one who has qualifications demonstrating knowledge in the care of and supervision of exotic animals and one representative of a society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. Members are appointed by the Washoe County Commission to a four-year term and may serve unlimited terms. The WCACB exercises specific powers and duties in the consideration, approval, suspension and revocation of exotic animal and kennel and cattery permits within the unincorporated areas of Washoe County, the city of Reno and the city of Sparks. The WCACB meets quarterly, the second Tuesday of the month at the Washoe County Regional Animal Services classroom located at 2825-A Longley Lane in Reno.
