That traditional power didn’t take it easy on Spanish Springs as J-Serra Catholic High School rolled over the Cougs 70-39 Monday night.
J-Serra jumped on the local school in the first half and used its defense to create offense. It also ran its half-court sets effectively when Spanish Springs was able to score and get back on defense. Foul trouble also plagued the Cougars as Lyndsey Anderson and Hannah Woytek, both starters, had to sit on the bench for extended periods of time.
J-Serra built a 44-19 halftime edge, helped mostly by shooting guard Coco Miller’s 23 points before the break.
Riley Holladay was the lone Cougar in double figures. She had a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Anderson added eight points and 12 boards.
Spanish Springs (10-3) is back in action today against Torrance at noon.
