SPARKS — Police reported late Thursday that a woman was killed Thursday afternoon in an apparent accident with a semi-truck.

Police responded at 2:24 p.m. to the Alamo Truck Stop at 1950 E. Greg St. after receiving a call about a person down in the north lot, bleeding from the head. Officers found a white, middle-aged female with severe head trauma in the parking lot. She was found by a truck driver with no other vehicles were around her. The preliminary investigation indicates she was struck and dragged by a vehicle, which was most likely a semi-tractor.

Witnesses did not see the accident but reported seeing a blue semi-truck with a 53-foot trailer, with either green writing or a green design on the trailer in the area.

Sparks police and the Nevada Highway Patrol are investigating the accident. Anyone who witnessed the accident, or recognizes the description of the above tractor and trailer, is being asked to call Sparks Police Detectives at 353-2225. At this time, the identity of the female is unknown.
