RENO — The Chamber is now accepting nominations for the Raymond I. Smith Civic Leader of the Year Award.

This year, the award will be presented at The Chamber’s Annual Recognition Banquet.

Smith was a precedent-setting pioneer, both in terms of corporate philanthropy and the growth of the gaming industry in northern Nevada. He donated, on an annual basis, more than $90,000 in college scholarships and another $100,000 to worthy charities.

Every year, beginning in 1965, The Chamber has honored individuals who have led organizations that have improved the quality of life in our community or have selflessly devoted time or money to worthwhile local causes and who have made an impact in finding and implementing solutions to local challenges.

Nominations must be submitted by members of The Chamber. Fill it out and use as much space as you want. The more information the nominating committee has about the nominee, the easier it will be for them to make a decision.

To receive a nomination form, contact Tray Abney at tabney@thechambernv.org. Fill it out and email it back as a Word attachment, scan it in as a PDF and send it back or fax it to 337-3038.

Nominations must be received by Dec. 13.

The Annual Recognition Banquet will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2012 at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.
