SPANISH SPRINGS — Alerts at Spanish Springs High School and Shaw Middle School have been lifted, according to the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. WSCO spokesman Deputy Armando Avina said a call was made to school police at 2:54 p.m. about a possible person pointing a rifle or similar weapon in the direction of Spanish Springs High School. After a thorough sweep of the area, law enforcement was unable to find anything to substantiate the call, Avina said.
