The suspect, described as a Hispanic male in his 20s, can be seen on images taken from a surveillance camera near the victim’s home in the 1600 block of I Street. According to police, the woman was attacked inside her home between 7:30 and 8 p.m. after returning from a local casino. When she entered her bedroom she was attacked by the suspect, who apparently had entered her apartment through a window and was lying in wait. The victim described the suspect as having a heavy Spanish accent and dark hair, wearing blue jeans with a possible logo on the back pocket or pockets and a dark jacket. After assaulting the victim, the suspect reportedly robbed her of an undisclosed amount of money and fled the scene.

At this time police do not know how the suspect opened the window to make entry. Police strongly suggest that residents make sure all entry points into their residence are properly secured with working locks. In addition, wooden dowels can be placed in the track of sliding windows to make them more secure.
