Laura Jennings-Evans of Topaz is accused of embezzling the money from Carson Valley Medical Center over the last 16 months while she was its accounts payable coordinator.
She told investigators she spent an average of nine hours a week playing penny slots at the maximum bet of $4.
The Record-Courier of Gardnerville says the 48-year-old Jennings-Evans was booked Oct. 3 on 47 counts of embezzlement and writing bad checks.
She allegedly made out checks for varying amounts in the name of her husband, then deposited them in the bank. The largest check was for $7,776 on July 8.
Jennings-Evans says her husband didn't know about the thefts.
