An autopsy performed Monday pinpointed the cause of death, according to Sparks police Detective John Franz. A Sparks resident, 38-year-old Michael Giesbrecht, was caught in West Wendover on Monday driving the decedent’s vehicle, which was discovered to be missing Sunday as police investigated the 911 call about the incident.
Police responded to unit #144 of the Park Vista Apartments, located at 565 Sparks Blvd. shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday. Sparks police put out the word with other law enforcement agencies to help find the vehicle, leading the West Wendover police to find the car Monday morning.
The victim in this case has not yet been identified.
Giesbrecht also is wanted in Idaho, according to police. He was arrested and booked in the Elko County jail for possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen credit cards. Bail was set at $115,000. He is being held as a person of interest in the homicide case.
