“We’ve just completed our most successful summer ever,” said Steve Thomas, donor recruitment director for United Blood Services of Reno. “A major component of our success this summer is due to our very successful summer campaign entitled Driving for Donors V, where all blood donors were able to fill out an entry form to win a beautiful new Toyota Corolla with the winner of this car being selected on Sept. 26.”
This key summer campaign for blood donors enabled United Blood Services of Reno to meet all community hospital demand throughout the summer when blood collections are typically low. This is especially important given that hospital patients in northern Nevada continue to need blood every day. United Blood Services of Reno needs about 150 blood donors each day to meet the increasing need for blood transfusions due to advancements in the medical field coupled with 69,000,000 baby boomers rapidly changing from being blood donors to becoming blood recipients.
“Summer is winding down, but hospital patients’ need for blood is not,” said Lisa Rogers, Reno fixed site donor recruitment supervisor. “You can help to save a life by donating blood today.”
