Reed sophomore Aubrie Ciesynski corralled a loose ball after a corner kick near the top of the 18-yard box and fired a shot just below the cross bar and into the goal for Reed’s first score. Katelyn Raatz was credited with an assist on the 12th minute goal.
The goal was Reed’s first of the season after it had been shut out in its initial three matches, two losses and a tie.
Reed added what proved to be the winning goal at the 56-minute mark. Laura Barrett handled the scoring chores while Kennady Whitehead gave away the assist. Whitehead sent a crossing pass in front of the goal and Barrett tapped it in on the back post.
“That’s a good win,” Reed coach Jason Saville said. “They had taken three of four from us over the last two years so it was nice to get one back.
“The girls that started the game, finished it. It was good to see they had the stamina to go 80 minutes. They didn’t stop moving.”
Reed (1-2-1), returns to action when it hosts a rare Friday night match. The Raiders will meet Wooster in a Northern 4A crossover league match. First kick is slated for 7 p.m.
