On Thursday, Yogurt Beach is holding a fundraiser for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for all three locations in the Reno/Sparks area. Mention the Food Bank of Northern Nevada at Yogurt Beach on Thursday and the store will donate 20 percent of your order to the food bank.
Yogurt Beach locations are at 784 South Meadows Pkwy. and 3882 Mayberry Drive in Reno and 113 Los Altos Pkwy. in Sparks. All three locations are open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the fundraiser will go through the entire day.
From 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 22, Café de Thai will hold a fundraiser for the food bank called Hot Blues and Cool Thai. Tickets for the event are $25 in advance or $35 at the door. The event includes a variety of delicious Thai appetizers sponsored by Café de Thai, a raffle, a silent auction and live blues by the Hellbusters.
Reservations for the event can be made by calling the Food Bank of Northern Nevada at 331-3663 ext. 130. Café de Thai is located at 7499 Longley Lane in Reno.
Hunger is a very serious issue right here in Nevada, according to the food bank. One in five children in Nevada lives in a home where there is not enough food for three meals per day, and one in six people in Nevada needs to seek food assistance and may tap the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to keep food on the table for their families. Throughout September, there will be opportunities to get involved.
