WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Ryan Langerhans put the Aces ahead early with a two-run home run Sunday afternoon, but Sacramento countered with 13 unanswered runs in a 13-2 victory over Reno in the decisive Game 5 of the Pacific Conference Championship Series at Raley Field.

With the loss, Reno’s season comes to a close after winning their first-ever division championship and making their first-ever appearance in the Pacific Coast League postseason. Sacramento will advance to the Pacific Coast League Championship Series against the Omaha Storm Chasers.

After both teams went quietly in the first, the Aces drew first blood in the second. Cody Ransom led off the frame with a double, just before Langerhans unloaded on a Lenny DiNardo offering and deposited it over the wall in right to put Reno ahead, 2-0.

From there, though, the River Cats took over. Sacramento answered with five runs in the third, two more in the fourth and added three in the sixth and three in the seventh.

Aces starter Tom Layne took the loss for Reno, surrendering five runs — four earned — on three hits and four walks in 2.1 innings of work. After Layne’s exit, Sacramento tacked-on eight runs against the Aces bullpen over the remainder of the afternoon.

River Cats starter Lenny DiNardo collected the win, scattering two runs on three hits over seven frames. DiNardo walked one and punched-out four. Former Aces reliever Jordan Norberto worked a scoreless eighth, and Bruce Billings finished the proceedings in the ninth.

At the dish for Reno, Mark Hallberg added a single to Ransom’s double and Langerhans’ homer in a three-hit Aces effort.

Reno opens the 2012 season on Thursday, April 5 at Aces Ballpark. Deposits for season tickets are being accepted now by calling (775) 334-4700 or by visiting www.RenoAces.com. Fans can keep up with all of the team’s off-season news and notes by visiting www.RenoAces.com.
