Awards honor Hispanic students and educators

RENO — Nevada Hispanic Services will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month and awarding those who have contributed to the advancement of Latinos in the community by hosting the 19th Annual Adelante Awards. Honorees include outstanding Latino employees, civic leaders, students and educators.

Laura Calzada of 1590 AM will act as master of ceremonies. The silent auction and the no-host reception will begin at 6 p.m., and the awards ceremony and dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

There will be live entertainment throughout the evening and after the ceremony. The event will be held in the Silver State Pavilion at the Grand Sierra Resort. Individual tickets cost $75. For sponsorship opportunities and more information, call Laura Martinez at 343-6710.

Nevada Hispanic Services is a nonprofit that has been serving northern Nevada since 1975 whose mission is to identify and address the needs of the Hispanic community through direct service, education, advocacy and community involvement.
