On June 25, more than 36 riders pedaled along a nine-mile loop starting at the Great Basin Brewery on South Virginia Street and ending at Silver Peak Restaurant. With the help of participating restaurants and Black Rock bicycles, which donated the grand prizes of two bicycles, the IAFF was able to raise $1,500 — more than $500 over last year’s total. The donated funds will go toward research, family assistance, advocacy, clinic assistance and other awareness programs at NNCCF.
“We couldn’t be more thankful to everyone who participated in this event,” said Debbie Strickland, executive director of NNCCF. “It is community events like these that make a difference for our children in northern Nevada diagnosed with cancer.”
NNCCF is northern Nevada’s only nonprofit serving local children and their families affected by childhood cancer. NNCCF’s programs and services include a family assistance fund, family support group, kid’s club for patients and siblings and a holiday adopt-a-family program.
