SPARKS — Can’t compete at the state fair with your prize vegetables this year? No problem!

Bring your award-winning vegetables to Rail City Garden Center at 1720 Brierley Way in Sparks between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 18 for the Fall Harvest Festival.

The festival includes a vegetable growing contest with prizes, food, music, local artisans and lots of fun. One of the food vendors helping provide the festival atmosphere will be the GourMelt Grilled Cheese Truck. GourMelt specializes in gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches with many different melts from which to choose, daily specials, salads, homemade tomato soup and more.

Festival attendees also can check out the list of seminars offered at Rail City Garden Center’s Green College. Classes are free but a donation of a non-perishable food item for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada is suggested. A Food Bank collection barrel is conveniently located at Rail City Garden Center.
