Admission is free throughout the weekend. The museum will open early Sept. 9 through 11 to accommodate visitors to the balloon races. Hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 9 and 10, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 11.
The museum will display two art exhibits during the balloon races. A watercolor show and sale featuring artists from the Sierra Watercolor Society, and a first look at this year’s “Wild Women Artists” exhibit. As a special treat, the museum will display balloon race posters from all 30 years of the event.
The museum’s permanent displays include many rare and exotic artifacts and animals from the world travels of rancher, adventurer and philanthropist Wilbur D. May.
The Wilbur D. May Museum is located inside Rancho San Rafael Regional Park at 1595 N. Sierra St. in Reno.
