SPARKS — Sponsorships are now available for the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows’ 10th annual Day for Kids.

On Sept. 17, hundreds of children and families will gather at the Sparks Marina for a free barbecue lunch, games, bounce houses, face painting, entertainment, ice cream and educational vendors offering information about community services. To help keep the event free to the public, applications for vendor space and sponsorships are now being accepted for consideration.

For the past decade, the club has hosted Day for Kids as a way to underscore the importance of parents and children spending quality time together with an emphasis on having fun. Studies show that the more quality time children spend with adults, the better the results in a child’s academic and personal life. In 2010, the event drew more than 1,000 attendees — volunteers handed out more than 1,500 ice cream cones — and the club is hoping to break the record this year.

In addition to sponsorships, vendor space is available for businesses and nonprofits. Companies that serve families — in every industry from doctors’ clinics to housing assistance — are invited to participate. Space is limited, so vendors are encouraged to secure spots early. In addition to supporting a growing, positive, northern Nevada community event, sponsors have access to marketing opportunities during event promotion and production.
