Reno jumped out to a 5-1 lead after just two innings, but Tacoma clawed back, eventually tying the game at six with a run in the top of the ninth. Four Tacoma relievers held Reno hitless from the fifth through the 11th inning before the Aces rallied in the 12th.
Andy Tracy led off the home half of the 12th with a line drive double to right-center, before being lifted for a pinch runner. After Langerhans fell behind 0-2 — squaring to bunt on the first two pitches — he ended the proceedings with a ground-rule double to center field, giving Reno its fourth-straight win and a chance for a series sweep over second-place Tacoma Tuesday night.
Jeff Bennett (3-0) — Reno's sixth pitcher of the ballgame — earned the win, retiring all six batters he faced, striking out three. Gaby Hernandez started for the Aces, surrendering three runs — two earned — in five innings of work.
Rainiers reliever Chaz Roe (0-7) was tagged with the loss, giving up the game-winning run without recording an out. Luke French started but did not figure in the decision, allowing six earned runs over four innings.
Langerhans finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, while Tony Abreu and Cole Gillespie had two hits and two RBIs apiece for the Aces. Angel Berroa extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a single in five at-bats, and Mark Hallberg added a pair of singles as well.
Reno and Tacoma conclude the series tonight at Aces Ballpark. Reno RHP Wes Roemer (0-0, 1.69 ERA) is slated to face Tacoma LHP Chris Seddon (8-6, 6.43 ERA), with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. PT. Tuesday is the season's final Dollar Bone Night presented by KTVN Channel 2 News, with $1 ribs available while supplies last.
