RENO — Just in time for back-to-school shopping, Once Upon A Child children’s store is holding a benefit shopping day in support of the Friends of Washoe County Library.

“We are holding our first Library Benefit Day because we believe that the Washoe County Library System is a vital part of our community that needs and deserves our support,” said Jennifer Cole, owner of Once Upon A Child. “The reduction of the library budget is troubling, especially during a time when so many people need the services more than ever. It is important that private citizens and businesses get involved in helping the Washoe County library continue to provide the high level of programming, service and materials that we have all come to take for granted.“

Once Upon A Child will donate 25 percent of Friday’s sales to help the Friends in their support of community libraries.

Library Benefit Day also will feature a special story time with librarian Brenda Baxter at 11 a.m. and a “Library Wish List” of books to purchase for donation to Washoe County libraries.

The Once Upon A Child store is located at 6015-G S. Virginia St. in Del Monte Plaza with Whole Foods, Pier One and Macy’s Home Store. For more information about Library Benefit Day, call 825-4448 or visit www.onceuponachildreno.com.
