SPARKS — A man has been arrested after police found his truck stuck between a concrete barrier and railroad spur line over Interstate 80 early Tuesday morning.

At 6:12 a.m., officers responded to a report about the suspicious vehicle and found three people trying to pull the truck off the side hill between the concrete barrier wall and the spur line. After a lengthy investigation, officers later arrested one of the subjects, David Coyne, 40, on charges of obstructing an investigation, trespassing (on Union Pacific Railroad property) and destruction of state property (a chain link fence was damaged when the truck went off the side of the service road).

Officers located numerous pieces of construction-grade steel in the back of the truck that could have caused the vehicle to lose control. Officers are investigating where those pieces of steel might have come from. The steel appears to be solid square beams approximately 6 inches square and tan in color, possibly a gazebo frame or something similar.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Sparks Police Department at 353-2231.
