At about 1:45 a.m., Sparks police responded to a report of a man bleeding in a parking lot in the area of 1850 Merchant St. Officers found a Hispanic man bleeding heavily from his head who was receiving first aid from a citizen. Sparks Fire Department and REMSA medical personnel arrived and began giving additional treatment to the man, discovering a possible bullet wound in the victim’s cheek along the jaw line.
Officers followed a trail of blood to 1850 Merchant St., along the Oddie Boulevard frontage road, where they believe the incident began. Witnesses said they heard an argument and a possible gunshot followed by a car quickly leaving the area.
The victim was transported to Renown Medical Center for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
The suspect is only described as a white male of unknown age with a handgun.
