SPARKS — At about 8:07 p.m. on Thursday, Sparks police officers responded to the area of 6th and C street, on a report of shots fired.
Witnesses on scene reported to officers that there had been a fight involving a number of subjects in the area. During the fight one of the subjects reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area eastbound.
The victim reportedly transported himself to the hospital and had a non life-threatening bullet wound to the abdomen. Officers conducted a search of the area, however, no suspect has been located at this time.
The Regional Gang Unit is assisting Sparks detectives with the investigation, although at this time it has not been determined whether the shooting was gang related. There are no further details available at this time.
