SPARKS — Two people have been arrested in connection with a string of vehicle burglaries in the area.

Sparks police and Washoe County sheriff’s detectives were conducting surveillance in parks and parking areas in response to the burglaries, in which the suspects broke windows and stole purses and then used the victims’ credit cards immediately following the thefts. Using surveillance video from a local store, the sheriff’s detectives preliminarily identified the male suspect as Edward Perkins, 33.

On Aug. 3, Sparks police detectives spotted Perkins riding with a female passenger, Cassandra Kissel, 22, on a stolen motorcycle. The pair were arrested on multiple charges, including various counts of burglary, grand larceny, fraudulent use of credit cards and obtaining money under false pretenses.

The investigation is ongoing.
